Feeling Stuffed

Stuffing. That’s all that’s been happening around here. No, I don’t mean that dried bread you stick up a turkey’s heinie, I’m talking about stuffing envelopes with the new issue of the Gypsy Journal. (By the way, what sick, perverted Pilgrim was sitting around the cabin one day, and said, “Ya know, if we packed a bird’s butt with stale bread and cooked it, I bet that would taste great!”?) But I digress.

Miss Terry has been stuffing envelopes like a mad woman, and I have been staying out of her way except to carry the plastic mail bins out to the Explorer as she fills them. She’s already got the first load done, and we’ll take them to the mailing service today. Then we’ll be back home, and she’ll be back at it. We’re trying to get everything mailed as soon as we can,. because this time of year, everything moves very slowly through the postal system. Well, I guess I should say even slower than usual. Hopefully, by mailing them over a week early, we can make up for lost time.

While Terry was doing her thing, I e-mailed the link to the new issue out to our digital subscribers, and then sent out renewal notices to those whose digital subscriptions are due.

With that done, I spent most of the afternoon writing, and knocked out over 3,000 words on the sequel to Big Lake. I’d really like to have it done by the end of the year, and I’m getting close, but I don’t want to rush it.  I’ve also decided to bring out a printed version of Big Lake, and I spent some time formatting it. I’m having a problem getting the Master Pages set up in InDesign so I can format the page numbers, so I need to find somebody who can talk me through that. I may have to call the production lady we work with at the newspaper that prints the Gypsy Journal, and ask for her input.

Speaking of Big Lake, Monday I received a message that it made the IndieReader.com list of Bestselling Self-Published Books, and the book has been in Amazon’s Top 100 Paid Bestseller list for eleven days now. What a ride this has been!

I also added some new seminars to the schedule for our Arizona Gypsy Journal rally. Nancy Moritz will be doing a craft seminar on T-shirt tying, and Major Wingfield will be presenting a seminar on Improving Performance & Saving Fuel. I’m also talking with a recently retired veterinarian turned fulltime RVer, who wants to do a seminar on emergency first aid for pets. He is trying to work out a scheduling conflict, and I’m saving him a seminar time slot until I know if he can make it.

I have not heard back from the entertainer we had planned on for Yuma, and I’m about out of time. I may have to start making some phone calls to find a replacement. Don’t you just hate it when people make a commitment, and then never get back to you to work out the final details?

We only have two days left for our Holiday Buy 1, Get 1 Free Subscription Offer. If you haven’t taken advantage of this money saving deal, click the link now, while there’s still time. Remember, if you snooze, you lose!

Terry says she’ll have everything in the mail in the next few days, and then life will be getting back to normal for us. Or at last, whatever passes for normal around here. 🙂

This weekend we’re going to Pinellas Park, near St. Petersburg, for a family gathering with my nephews and niece there, and their families. I’m really looking forward to that. And who knows? One of these days, we may actually get our kayaks in the water someplace!

Thought For The Day – If you can’t ignore an insult, top it; if you can’t top it, laugh it off; and if you can’t laugh it off, it’s probably deserved.
